DOWAGIAC — The Dowagiac City Council took steps Monday to improve commercial and residential development in downtown Dowagiac.
The council unanimously approved a resolution Monday that sets a Jan. 13, 2025 public hearing regarding the Brownfield Plan Amendment for 113 Commercial St.
The owner of 113 Commercial Street has planned investment in the building of more than $900,000. The project includes demolition and infrastructure improvements to allow for a mix of commercial and residential space in the building. The Brownfield Plan includes a total of $75,165 of owner eligible activities for reimbursement over 20 years.
The Brownfield Plan Amendment, which includes a site map and legal description of the parcel, is available for public inspection at the City’s Municipal Building. All aspects of the plan are open for discussion at the public hearing.
