NILES CHARTER TOWNSHIP — A 39-year-old Niles man was arrested Monday afternoon in connection with a shooting outside of a Niles Township gas station, according to the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office.

At approximately 12:15 p.m. Monday, deputies responded to the Niles Township Speedway, 1402 S. 11th St., after reports of a shooting. A 39-year-old Niles man was taken to the hospital to be treated for an unspecified non-life-threatening injury before being arrested and booked for assault with intent to murder.

A 44-year-old Niles man was hospitalized for a gunshot wound and has since been released. The shooting remains under investigation.
