NILES TOWNSHIP – A business that has served the Michiana community for decades will be closing its doors next month.

Shelton’s Farm Market, 1832 S. 11th St., Niles, announced Friday that it will be closing its doors Saturday, Dec. 14  after 77 years of service. In September, Shelton’s announced it would be closing its doors and that Aldi Foods, a popular discount supermarket chain, will be replace the Shelton’s building with a new Aldi’s supermarket on the site.

“This date holds deep significance for our family,” the store stated in a Facebook post. “It is the birthday of the late Miss Betty Shelton, Jimbo’s beloved wife. Betty was a cornerstone of Shelton’s in its early days, pouring her heart and soul into building what Shelton’s would become. Her dedication and vision helped lay the foundation for everything we’ve achieved, and we wouldn’t be here without her.
“It feels only right to honor her legacy by choosing this day to close the book on an incredible 77 years of serving this community. Thank you for being part of our journey.”

Shelton’s will be offering specials and closeout deals until the final day.
