Buchanan falls to Olivet 49-15 in D6 playoff opener

OLIVET — The Buchanan football team found tough sledding against host Olivet in its Division 6 pre-district matchup.
The Eagles defeated the Bucks 49-15 Friday night, scoring the game’s first 49 points. A 31-yard Leland Payne touchdown run and an 18-yard Ryan Hickok fumble return touchdown in the fourth quarter rounded out scoring for the Bucks. The Eagles outgained Buchanan 334-184 in total yards.
Quarterback Jake Franklin completed 13 of 30 passes for 104 yards and two interceptions and Payne had five carries for 60 yards and one touchdown. Brody Reed had six catches for 48 yards and Tyler Baker and Hickok led the defense with eight tackles apiece.
The Bucks finish the season with a 6-4 record.
