VICKSBURG — The Niles football team took care of business on the road against Vicksburg.
The Vikings scored 49 unanswered points on their way to aa 49-7 Wolverine Conference victory. Niles outgained Vicksburg 365-164 in total yards, including a 341-56 advantage in rushing yards. Peyton Gordon had five carries for 117 yards and three touchdowns and Paul Hess had 14 carries for 119 yards and two touchdowns while Guy Torres added a 4-yard touchdown run. Sam Rucker had 31 rushing yards and a 64-yard punt return touchdown and Brenden Olsen added a 23-yard catch. Talen Bennett completed 2 of 4 passes for 24 yards and an interception.
On defense, Ward Cheney led the team with seven tackles and Jaden Ivery added six while Hess and Sam Rucker each tallied a sack.
The Vikings (5-1) are on the road next week Friday against rival Edwardsburg.
