CASSOPOLIS — The Women For Trump of Southwest Michigan hosted a rally Saturday, Sept. 28 at the historic Sinclair Station, 200 S. Broadway St., Cassopolis, the new headquarters for the Cass County Republican Party.
The rally, for Republican Presidential Candidate Donald Trump, featured area women as speakers, patriotic music, “Women for Trump” banners, t-shirts, hand-held signs and other merchandise. Speakers included Lake Michigan College Trustee Vicki and Wendy Glaser, wife of 5th District GOP Chair J.D. Glaser.
Burghdoff spoke about the opposition and persecution she believes that Donald Trump has had to endure since he first ran for President, while Glaser spoke about the urgency of getting people to vote, particularly church people and hunters – who need to vote early because hunting season is the first week in November. Other speakers emphasized early voting and the theme: Why women want Trump in the White House.
The hostess for the event was Brenda Beadenkopf, author, and former editor of the Berrien County Record. Passersby honked their horns and waved as the event took place. Beadenkopf said the next Women for Trump rally will take place at 2p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26 at the Sinclair Station. Speakers will include Susan Walberg, wife of Michigan State Representative Tim Walberg, Allison Lindsey, wife of State Representative Jonathan Lindsey and former Senate candidate Dr. Sherry O’Donnell. Organizers said that men are welcome to come support the women for what they hope will be a “peaceful and patriotic” family event.
