BERRIEN SPRINGS — This fall, Honor Credit Union is taking action to stock shelves and combat food insecurity across Michigan with Honor’s Pantry PowerUp initiative.
In an effort to support its local communities, Honor is donating a total of $30,000 to food banks throughout the six regions they serve in Michigan. Their goal is to stock shelves and address the urgent needs of families and individuals facing economic hardships.
Founded in 1934, Honor Credit Union has grown to 28 locations statewide while maintaining a connection to the local community. The organization has a long history of supporting vital causes and is now focusing on combating food shortages by stocking shelves across the state.
“Although food drives are often busiest during the holidays, this year we’re witnessing an urgent need that simply can’t wait,” said Jen Wagner, Community Relations Manager at Honor Credit Union. “Our Pantry PowerUp initiative is a reflection of our deep commitment to stepping up for our communities whenever we’re needed. We’re truly grateful to have the opportunity to give back in such a meaningful way.”
As part of their $30,000 state-wide Pantry PowerUp initiative, Honor Credit Union has donated $2,500 to the Bread of Life pantry in Dowagiac and $2,500 to the Bread of Life pantry in Benton Harbor to help meet the increasing demand for food assistance.
“This donation means so much to us and Bread of Life,” said Janie Reifenberg, Honor Credit Union’s Community Development Officer, while attending the $2,500 check donation to Bread of Life in Dowagiac. “They do incredible work to ensure that no one goes hungry, and we’re honored to help them continue their mission. It’s truly rewarding to know that this contribution will have a direct and positive impact on so many local families.”
Honor encourages everyone to support local food banks and other community initiatives. Contributions, whether through donations, volunteering, or spreading awareness, all play a crucial role in making a difference.
