NILES — The 52nd annual Four Flags Area Apple Festival has successfully concluded, leaving attendees and organizers thrilled with the turnout and events.

The four-day festival kicked off last Thursday and concluded Sunday and featured multiple carnival rides, a parade, free entertainment, including musical performances and the opportunity to participate in apple-inspired games and activities, like pie-eating contests and peeling.

“It went very smoothly,” said Apple Festival President Mike Hubbard. “It was a very successful weekend. A little bit of rain sprinkle kept the dust down, we had great crowds and turnouts for contests. It’s the biggest thing that happens at this end of the county.”

Hubbard added that the new apple products building was a “huge success” and that groundwork is being laid for next year’s edition of the festival.

“It was a very successful year, we’re happy with the turnout,” he said. “52 years down and we’re hoping to add a great number of years to that number going forward.”
