Police searching for suspect in Vandalia shooting

VANDALIA — The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a suspect who reportedly shot a man after an argument ensued outside a home in Vandalia Wednesday morning.
Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that at approximately 1:51 a.m. Wednesday, his office was called to investigate a shooting that occurred at 18089 State St., Vandalia. The investigation showed that two males were having a verbal argument when the argument turned physical. One male, a 24-year-old, was shot in the foot. The other male fled the scene before deputies arrived. The gunshot victim was transported to Elkhart General Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect remains at large and his name is being withheld at this time. There is no public threat currently. This investigation is ongoing.
