NILES CHARTER TOWNSHIP — Brandywine Community Schools has announced the launch of the second year of the district’s podcast, “Cat Chat” is set for Wednesday, Sept. 11.

The district uses the podcast to highlight and celebrate unique stories of the district’s students and staff. The podcast began in the fall of 2023, with Superintendent Travis Walker as the host. 

“As a school community, it’s our responsibility to shine a spotlight on the incredible work our students and staff are doing every day. The Cat Chat podcast is our way of celebrating these achievements, providing a platform to share their stories, and keeping the community engaged with the ongoing success and innovation happening within Brandywine Community Schools,” Walker said. 

Episodes from the first season included a chat with a Brandywine eighth grade student in flight school, information on the school improvement bond that was on the ballot in May, discussions with the basketball coaches who both took their teams to the Breslin Center to the state championships, and learning about the Underground Railroad from a high school history class. 

Walker seeks out interesting stories from around the district and plans the questions for the guests. 

“We want Cat Chat to reflect the interests and concerns of our listeners, which is why we’ll be inviting everyone to participate by submitting their ideas and questions through a survey at some point this year. This is a great opportunity for parents, students, and community members to help shape the conversation and ensure we’re addressing the topics that matter most to them. Likewise, should our listeners have a topic they’d like to learn more about, please submit ideas for episodes to Mr. Walker via email at twalker@brandywinebobcats.org,” he added.

The podcast will release new episodes on the second and fourth Wednesday of every month – except for November and December due to the holidays. Readers can find the latest episodes on the school’s website at www.brandywinebobcats.org or Spotify.
