Buchanan Community Schools announces 2024 Hall of Fame class

BUCHANAN — Buchanan Community Schools Hall of Fame has unveiled its Class of 2024 inductees who will be formally inducted during halftime of the Bucks’ football game against White Pigeon Friday, Sept. 6 at Memorial Field. The group includes Michael Greene (’87), Donald Pears (1918) and Ronald Stone.

The purpose of the Buchanan Community Schools Hall of Fame is to recognize Buchanan Community Schools alumni, staff, volunteers and other individuals who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to society, their contributions to Buchanan Community Schools or their performance in school-related activities.

Contributions to Society

  • These individuals must be graduates of Buchanan High School who have in some way made an out- standing contribution to society.
  • Accomplishments have been recognized at the local, State or National levels, or are the result of long-term (twenty (20) years or more) volunteering efforts.
  • The individual has been out of school for at least ten (10) years.

Contributions to Buchanan Community Schools

  • These individuals may or may not be graduates of Buchanan High School, but are or have been teachers, administrators, coaches, school board members, school volunteers, or other individuals who have in some way contributed to Buchanan Community Schools
  • This person must have made a significant contribution as an employee, volunteer, or student which helped make Buchanan Community Schools better.

Performance in School-Related Activities (Academics/Athletics)

These individuals must be graduates of BHS who have exhibited outstanding achievement in academics and/or athletics. Alumni may be nominated as individuals or as part of an outstanding team for group ten (10) years after graduation from BHS. The following elements are to serve as a guide for the selection committee. Not all criteria must be met for selection.

  1. Earned an academic accomplishment of Rhodes Scholar, perfect SAT/ACT score, Academic All- American in college, earned a Ph.D., to name a few.
  2. Established a school record.
  3. Performed a significant accomplishment.
  4. Placed at State level competition or participated on a teanvigroup that qualified for the State semi-finals or finals.
  5. Won a district, regional or State Championship as an Individual or member of a team/group
  6. Received “All-State” recognition.

7.Participated in performance-related activities at the post-secondary or professional level.
