Buchanan boys tennis splits with Edwardsburg

BUCHANAN — The Buchanan and Edwardsburg varsity tennis teams battled their way to a 4-4 draw on Tuesday Aug. 20.
The two teams won three flights apiece in both singles and doubles to account for their four wins. Edwardsburg’s Steven Linton (7-5,2-6,6-4), Logan Summy (6-4,6-0) and Brady Leep (6-3 ,5-7,6-2) picked up wins in No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 singles and No. 4 doubles via Braden Farmer and Xander Souchick (6-3,2-6,6-2).
Buchanan’s Carson Shelton picked up a win in No. 4 singles (6-1 , 6-0) and No. 1 doubles team Jarett Seddon and Kaleb Lingle (6-2,6-2), No. 2 doubles team Devon Simpson and Ben Bosse (4-6,6-3,6-2) and No. 3 doubles team Bodie Bryans and Chase Mitchell (6-4,6-7 (3),6-3) earned wins in doubles.
Buchanan splits with Niles
The Bucks and Vikings finished with a 4-4 tie Monday, Aug. 19. Niles’ Elias Babler and Hunter Kater picked up wins at No. 1 and No. 3 singles and the No. 1 doubles team of Paxton Daniel and Bryan Young and No. 4 doubles team of Josh Becraft and Zane Bolyard also earned wins. For Buchanan, Marley Hines and Shelton won No. 2 and No. 4 singles and the No. 2 doubles team of Simpson and Bosse and No. 3 team of Bryans and Mitchell also picked up wins.
