Eugene Judson “Gene” Henderson, age 95 years, formerly of Decatur, Illinois died peacefully on Sunday, August 4, 2024 at his home in Niles, Michigan.
He was born in Decatur on Jan. 20, 1929 to Lawrence J. and Gladys B. (Fiscus) Henderson; and was married in Decatur on July 5, 1947 to the former Helen C. Billick, with whom he celebrated the remarkable Seventy-third Anniversary of their marriage prior to her death on Oct. 30, 2020. They were sadly preceded in death by a son, Terry in 2002; and by Gene’s parents and his two sisters.
Surviving family in Niles includes his daughter, Diane (& Pat) McCullough. Also surviving are Diane’s siblings, Scott, Brad, Jeanne, and Terry’s wife, Inge; eleven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
Family and friends of Mr. Henderson will gather at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2024 at the Halbritter-Wickens Funeral Home, 615 East Main Street in Niles, followed by a procession to Mission Hills Cemetery, 61453 M-51, Niles for a Committal Service with Bill Zebell, Caring Pastor at Berrien Center Bible Church officiating..
