DOWAGIAC — Thanks to the initial success of the Dowagiac DART on Demand service, the City of Dowagiac is extending the free rides period through the month of August.

Dowagiac DART rides requested through Ride Pingo, the free app that powers Dowagiac DART on Demand, will be free through August 31. Hundreds of Dowagiac DART rides have been booked through the Ride Pingo app since the Dowagiac DART on Demand service launched on July 12. The new, Uber-like app aims to make it even easier for Dowagiac residents to move around the city.

Overall Dowagiac DART ridership increased 19 percent year over year for the month of July. 

“The initial success of the Dowagiac DART on Demand program has been very encouraging, so the City wanted to extend the free rides period to incentivize more people to use the service and learn just how convenient it is,” said Dowagiac City Manager Kevin Anderson. “This is another step in our ongoing work to improve accessible services for Dowagiac residents.”
