James Franklin Grady, Sr. of Detroit, Michigan departed his earthly life to begin his eternal life on Friday, July 12, 2024.

His life began on Dec. 3, 1953 in Three Rivers, Michigan, the son of Albert Grady, Jr. and Barbara Buck Wilson. James graduated from Dowagiac Union High School in 1972. James received an Associate Degree in Heating and Cooling. He was employed at Eastern Michigan University for 30 years where he retired.

James loved family get togethers where he was the jokester. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

James will be greatly missed by family and friends. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 25 years, Rethia, 5 sons, James II (Jaquitta), Cedvic (Sarah), Garin (Jaleesa), Deon (Joan) and Darius, 1 daughter, Crystal, 6 sisters, Vicki (Earl), Cathy (Larry), Tracy, Michelle, Gale and Kay and 2 brothers, Danny and Matthew. James was preceded in death by his mother.

Family and friends will gather at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024 until time of service at 3 p.m. at Pye Funeral Home, 17600 Plymouth, Detroit, Michigan.
