NILES — The bankruptcy of Rite Aid Corp. is prompting the closure of stores across the country and southwest Michigan is no exception.

The Rite Aid located at 11 S. 11th St., Niles, has announced it will be closing this summer – the pharmacy on Thursday, July 18 and the retail floor Sunday, Aug. 25. Prescriptions will be transferred to Walgreens. The store is currently hosting a going out of business sale with items marked from 10 percent to 30 percent off.

The drugstore chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last year and has closed hundreds of stores nationwide since the filing.
