SILVER CREEK TOWNSHIP — A Haslett man and a South Bend woman were injured Tuesday in a two-vehicle Silver Creek Township crash, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that at approximately 3:57 p.m. Tuesday, his office was called to investigate a personal injury crash near the intersection of M-51 Hwy and M-152, in Silver Creek Township, Cass County Michigan.
Investigation shows that Shawn Scott-Fitzgerald, 67-years-old from Haslett, Michigan, was traveling northbound on M-51 Hwy. Haslett was making a left turn into a gas station and failed to yield the right of way to a southbound vehicle. The driver of this second vehicle was 20-year-old Leann Lincoln of South Bend, Indiana. Lincoln had two passengers in her vehicle: Dalton Mattimore, 22, of Baroda, as well as Dakota Baxter, 20, of Niles. SMCAS Ambulance transported Scott-Fitzgerald and Lincoln to Borgess Lee Hospital in Dowagiac for non-life-threatening injuries.
The occupants of the vehicles were wearing their seatbelts and alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash. The Pokagon Tribal Police and Sister Lakes Fire Department assisted the Sheriff’s Office with this crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
