DOWAGIAC — Residents of the Greater Dowagiac area have a new local service available to them.

Faithful Hauling Services LLC, owned by Shane and Mandy Wallace of Dowagiac, has opened their doors offering roll-off dumpster rentals. The Wallaces are no strangers to the community.

“We both grew up in Dowagiac, then moved out of the area for a while, and came back in 2014,” Shane said. “Dowagiac is where my wife and I are raising our four kids. This is where we want to invest our time and energy. This is home.”

The Wallaces reside in Wayne Township and are also the owners of Acres of Grace, an all-natural, handcrafted soap company.

The Wallaces saw a need in the community for locally owned, short-term use dumpsters.

“There are so many folks who want to clean out their basements, empty their barns, or clean up from a renovation project,” Shane said. “There are also many situations of home foreclosures or the death of a loved one, where the house needs to be emptied to go on the market. Getting a dumpster delivered in your driveway is the most efficient way to get rid of all that material.”

Faithful Hauling Services currently has six different units, ranging from five cubic yards to 30 cubic yards.

“With units of varying sizes, we’re able to accommodate some unique situations, such as an apartment clean out where there’s not a good space to put a traditional roll-off dumpster, but my smaller units are driveway safe and I can actually back them right up to the door.”

Keeping business local is a cornerstone of Faithful Hauling’s business model. “Typically, if someone wants to get a dumpster from one of the big-name companies, you have to call a 1-800 number during normal business hours and speak to a call center. But our customers can call or text me directly, and we can talk through what they need and when they need it. Most of my dumpster deliveries are in the evenings, when people are home to show me where they want the dumpster placed. Clean-out or construction projects can be stressful on families, and my job is to eliminate some of that stress.”

Wallace said something else that sets his business apart from others is transparency.

“We have a website with all of our prices listed, and some suggestions on how to decide which size you need. The dumpster rental business isn’t always apples-to-apples, so when you’re calling around to compare prices, it can get confusing with travel charges and weight charges and different rental periods. Our prices are straight-forward and we don’t hide them.”

One of Faithful Hauling’s first customers, Robert LaVanway, needed multiple dumpsters for an estate clean out. He voiced his appreciation of the ease of communication and flexibility that a locally owned business can provide.

“They worked with us on the weekends when we could be at the home working, and even supplied labor when we inquired about it,” LaVanway said.

Landfills have restrictions on what materials they accept, so Faithful Hauling Services offers guidance on that to their customers.

“We cannot take things like tires, concrete, or appliances to the landfill, but we have other locations where those items can go to be recycled, so we communicate with our customers about what types of waste they need handled. We are an eco-conscious family and are reflecting that in our business. Our goal is to get all items to the right places,” Shane explained.

In addition to dumpster rentals for customers to load on their own, Faithful Hauling Services also offers a “we-load” service where customers can have their items loaded and removed for them. Details of all services are available online at faithfulhauling.com or by calling (269) 783-5011.
