DOWAGIAC — A sanitary sewer overflow occurred from 9:30 a.m. to approximately 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, June 25 in Dowagiac.

According to Director of Public Services Benjamin Eldridge, staff at the Dowagiac Wastewater Treatment Plant responded to a discharge that took place at the Dowagiac Wastewater plant due to the rain event we experienced. Approximately 40,000 gallons of a partially treated combination of storm water and wastewater was discharged to the river.
