Authorities seek help locating stabbing suspect

SILVER CREEK TOWNSHIP — The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating a person suspected of stabbing three people in Silver Creek Township Thursday evening.
Cass County Sheriff Richard J Behnke reports that at 10:40 p.m. Thursday, Cass County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a stabbing that occurred at a residence on the 32000 block of School St. in Silver Creek Township. Upon arrival, deputies encountered three victims who had sustained multiple stab wounds from a single assailant. The victims were a 73-year-old male, a 75-year-old female and a 31-year-old male. SMCAS Ambulance transported the two older individuals to the hospital for treatment. The 31-year-old victim refused medical treatment.
The assailant fled the scene prior to deputies’ arrival and is currently at large. The Sheriff’s Office believes this to be a focused incident and there is no threat to the community. The investigation is ongoing and the names of the parties involved will not be released at this time. The Pokagon Tribal Police and Dowagiac Police assisted the Sheriff’s Office with the investigation.
