Harrison R. Lyons, 90, of Dowagiac, passed away on Wednesday morning, May 8, 2024, at The Timbers of Cass County in Dowagiac.
He was born on Nov. 11, 1933, in Johnson City, Tennessee to the late Joe and Florence (Manning) Lyons. Harrison was one of 17 children.
Harrison was a veteran of the United States Army serving 2 years from 1956-1958. On April 17, 1962, he was united in marriage to Lola M. (Haas) Lyons, who preceded him in death on April 12, 2009.
Surviving are his two children — Brenda Madaj and David Bainbridge (Carol Bainbridge); Granddaughter – Andrea Bainbridge (Benn Angon); Great-Grandson — Joseph Angon; Brother — Bobby McLaughlin of Erwin, TN and Sister — Betty Francis of Jonesborough, TN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Harrison, or Harry as he was often referred to, came to Michigan from Tennessee at an early age to work in Flint, MI in the auto assembly plants. After a few years, he apprenticed as a Die Cast Engineer and became very well known for his knowledge and expertise over the years in Die Casting.
All his life, Harry had a passion for golf, of which he was admired for his almost pro-tour play. He also enjoyed growing his tomatoes, of which most he gave away.
Honoring Harrison’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Graveside services with US Army military honors will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 28, 2024, at Bly Cemetery, 11500 M-216, Marcellus.
