WAYNE TOWNSHIP — A 28-year-old Buchanan woman was injured in a single vehicle crash in Wayne Township Wednesday morning, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that at approximately 1:35 a.m. Wednesday, his office was called to investigate a personal injury crash on Marcellus Highway in Wayne Township. Investigation shows that Ashley Smith, 28, of Buchanan, was traveling Eastbound on Marcellus Highway when she tried to avoid a tree in the roadway. Smith hit the tree in the roadway, lost control of her vehicle to the left, which caused her to hit another tree where Smith’s vehicle came to rest.

Smith was transported to Niles Hospital for minor injuries sustained in the crash. She was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash. Alcohol and drugs are not considered a factor in this crash.
