Eddies sweep Brandywine in non-conference doubleheader

EDWARDSBURG — Visiting Brandywine gave the Edwardsburg softball team it best shot in the nightcap off their non-conference doubleheader, but came up short.
The Eddies swept the Bobcats, falling to Edwardsburg 5-1 and 8-7.
Trialing 1-0 heading into the bottom of the third inning in the first game, the Eddies scored two runs in the third and two more in the fourth to take control of the game.
Brandywine outhit Edwardsburg 9-8. Kadence Brumitt had home run for the Bobcats, while Adelyn Drotoz and Paige Krisher both doubled.
Sydney Klaer had a double for the Eddies.
Victoria Pulling was the winning pitcher. Brumitt suffered the loss.
In the nightcap, Edwardsburg scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to pull out the victory.
Both team were in top form offensively as they combined for15 runs on 26 hits.
Kendal Hullet, Kourtney Zarycki, Lexi Schimpa and Klaer all douled. Schimpa also had a home run. Mia Castelucci added a triple.
Brumitt and Aaliyah Kirschbaum both doubled, while Kaegan VanSandt had a home run.
Makhaya Helflin earned the win, while Drotoz took the loss.
