Roundup: Bucks, Rangers sweep opponents

WATERVLIET —The No. 3-ranked Buchanan softball team swept host Watervliet 18-0 and 14-0 in non-conference play Monday afternoon.
In Southwest 10 Conference play, visiting Cassopolis swept Bloomingdale 16-1 and 18-5.

Hailee Kara tossed a three-hitter with seven strikeouts and no walks in the opening game.
The Bucks (23-2) had 17 hits against a pair of Panther pitchers.
Aspen Berry was 3-for-3 with a triple, a double, a home run and six RBIs. Caitlyn Horvath was 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs, while Hannah Herman, Kara, Cameron Carlson and Faith Bartley all had two hits.
Herman and Bartley, along with Camille Lozmack doubled for Buchanan.
In the nightcap, Lozmack tossed a three-hitter as well, with six strikeouts.
The Bucks added 13 more hits on the day, led by Herman, Kara, Lozmack and Julia Prenkert with two hits each. Kara and Keegan May both doubled, and Herman tripled. Kara drove in four runs, while Lozmack, Carlson and Prenkert all had a pair of RBIs.

The Rangers’ Mackenzie Boyer picked up both wins against the Cardinals.
In the opener, she tossed a three-hitter with eight strikeouts, while in the nightcap,
Cassopolis had 15 hits in the first game. Ryley Bosher, Janalya Franklin, Boyer, Atyanna Alford Ella Smith, T Brooks and Sienna Young all had two hits.
Alford and Boyer both doubled. Young drove in three runs, while Alford and Smith both had two RBIs.
In the second game, Boyer did not allow an earned run while striking out six.
Cassopolis finished with 12 hits. Smith was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Bowsher, Boyer and Tori Burks all had two hits. Boyer also doubled.
