Buchanan sweeps Bobcats, Brandywine girls set new school record

NILES — Visiting Buchanan swept its Lakeland Conference meet with host Brandywine Wednesday.
The Bucks defeated the Bobcats 145-114 in boys track, while the Buchanan girls track team knocked off Brandywine 166-88.
Despite the loss, the Bobcat girls team had reason to celebrate as the 400-meter relay team set a new school record with a time of 53.91. That team consisted of Karleigh Byrd, Miley Young, Mackenna Price and Allison Fedore.
Fedore was a multiple winner for the Bobcats as she captured the 100-meters (13.51). Miley Young also won the 800-meters with a time 2:32.97. Bird also won the high jump with a height of 4-2, while Price took first place in the long jump with a leap of 15-1.5.
There were several multiple winners for Buchanan as well.
Audrey Lietz won the 200-meters (27.10) and was a member of the Bucks’ winning 800- and 1,600-meter relay teams. The 800-meter team of Lietz, Ava Graham, Kayleigh Evans and Ella Mollberg, ran a time of 2:03.72, while the 1,600-meter team of Lietz, Madeline Young, Ava Graham and Alaina Nagel, ran a time of 4:30.72.
Graham also won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 53.52. Nagel was also a member of the winning 3,2000-meter relay team, which also consisted of Adyson Baker. Sydney Greaves, Brooke Schlutt. That unit ran a time of 11:15.00. Madeline Young added the 1,600-meters to her list of wins Wednesday as she ran a time 5:42.51.
Jack Sherwood had a big day for the Buchanan boys team as he won the 400-meters (55.85) and was a member of the Bucks’ winning 800-, 1,600- and 3,200-meter relay teams.
The 800-meter squad, which also consisted of Carson Deming, Dane Figy and Britain Philip, posted a time of 1:37.04, while the 1,600-meter team ran a time of 4:04.06. The other members of that unit were Deming, Philip, Coy Weinberg. The 3,200-meter team, which also consisted of Jacob Kuntz, Liam McBeth and Philip, ran a time of 11:14.71.
Phillip capped off his big day with a win in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 43.27. McBeth also won the 800-meters (2:16.70) and the 1,600-meters with a time of 4:53.83. Kuntz also won the 3,200-meters with a time of 11:58.07.
Kevin Roberts was a triple winner for the Bobcats as he won the pole vault with a height of 13-0 and the long jump with a leap of 19-5.25. He was also a member of Brandywine’s winning 400-meter relay team that ran a time of 46.34. The other members of the team were Elijah Gamble, Kaden Santana and Kaeden Warfield.
Warfield added a win in the 100-meters (11.48), while Gamble also won the 200-meters (24.28) and Santana captured the high jump with a height of 5-6.
