NILES — The Niles Community Schools Board of Education continues to move forward with the process of selecting a new superintendent of schools.
After receiving applications from fourteen talented educators, the Board has screened and selected five candidates for interviews. The selection process has been facilitated by the Michigan Leadership Institute.
The interviews will be conducted on May 13th, 14th, and 15th at 2120 20th Place, Niles. These interviews are open to the public, providing an opportunity for community involvement.
The interview schedule is as follows:
- May 13 at 7:00 pm: Cathy Bildhauser, Director of Curriculum and Instruction in Michigan City, Ind.
- May 14 at 5:30 pm: Dr. Adam Burtsfield, Assistant Superintendent in Niles
- May 14 at 7:00 pm: Dr. Steven Hope, Director at FlexTech in Brighton
- May 15 at 5:00 pm: Raphael Rittenhouse, Former Superintendent in Gull Lake
The vacancy in the superintendent position arose due to the retirement of Dr. Dan Applegate, who has served the district admirably as superintendent for ten years. The Board anticipates the new superintendent will join the Viking family on or about July 1.
