Gaideski gets victory No. 500 as Eddies split with Niles

NILES — Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Famer AJ Gaideski added another milestone to his legendary career.
With Edwardsburg’s 5-0 win over host Niles in their non-conference doubleheader Friday night, Gaideski reached 500 career victories.
The Vikings game a spit with a 4-1 win in the nightcap.
Edwardsburg took control of the opening game with a four-run second inning. The Eddies added a run in the fourth inning.
Joe Lundgren worked the first six innings for Edwardsburg to earn the victory. He, along with Austin Leak, who came on in the seventh, tossed a combined three-hitter. Lundgren struck out eight.
Offensively, the Eddies finished with eight hits, led by Ryun Buck, who was 3-for-3 with a double. Alex Rudolph and Payton Bookwalter also doubled.
Niles’ Talon Brawley doubled for one of the Vikings’ three hits.
Jaxen Racht started and took the loss. Logan Olsen came on in the sixth and finished the game.
In the nightcap, Niles built a 4-0 lead before Edwardsburg scored a run in the seventh.
The Vikings had seven hits, led by Acie Kirtdoll, who was 2-for-4 with three RBIs.
Josh McIntyre worked the first six innings to earn the victory. He allowed three hits and struck out six. Logan Olsen worked the seventh inning.
The Eddies had four hits. Alex Rudolph was 2-for-3 with and RBI. Brady Cook had a double for Edwardsburg.
Austin Leak took the loss. Rudolph came on in the sixth to complete the game.
