Mary Rose David, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed away at the age of 97 on March 4, 2024, in Rancho Mirage, CA. She lived a life filled with love, kindness, and unwavering optimism, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.

Born to Hermione and Alfred Fass Sr., Mary grew up alongside her brother Alfred Jr. and sister Eleanor, forming close bonds that lasted a lifetime. She married Noah Henderson and accompanied him to Japan and Italy during his military service. There they shared cherished moments together until Noah’s untimely passing at the age of 40.
Mary’s heart knew no bounds, and she welcomed David David into her life as her adopted son. Later, she found love again with John David, who brought three daughters, Mary Bolin, Carol Cordova, Susan David into their blended family.

Her grandchildren, Jennifer, Jordana, Ashley, and Amber, were the light of her life, though she also carried the memory of her beloved grandson, Davey, who preceded her in death.

Throughout her life in Dowagaic Mary worked at Creative Foam, was a secretary for some of the attorneys, including John Magyar, Mark Westrate, and Rick Boezeman and worked for Margaret Chiara in the Prosecutors Office for Cass County. Mary’s warmth and compassion endeared her to colleagues and clients alike. Her genuine nature and ability to see the good in everyone earned her the endearing nickname of Mary Rose with “Rose-colored glasses.” Her life in Dowagiac was very special.

In her final years, Mary found solace being with family and friends in Palm Desert, CA. There she shared precious moments with her brother Alfred Fass, nephew Daniel Fass, niece Denise Fass, and Granddaughter Jori Delaney.

Her longtime friends, formerly from Dowagiac, Rick and Leona Boezeman plus their beautiful children spent abundant time with Mary and were very special friends to her. Mary was also ‘another mother’ to Leona and her entire family.

Mary David’s legacy of love, kindness, and positivity will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her family, friends, and all those who touched her life. To put this in Mary measurement terms, exactly a bushel, a peck, and a hug around the neck.

Mary will be interred with her husband John who preceded her death in 1995 at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
