Larry Ray Clayton, 74, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, in Comstock Park, Michigan.
Larry was born on Jan. 2, 1950, in Buchanan, Michigan to the late Ray Clayton and Gertrude (Fortson) Holmes.
Along with his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his first wife, Julie Clayton and his current wife, Norma (Archer) Clayton.
Left to cherish the memory of Larry is his only daughter, Lori (Bruce) Cook; grandchildren, Madeline (Nicholas) Rasch and Hayden Cook; brothers, Ken Clayton (Vicky), Mike (Candi) Clayton, and Roger Clayton and sisters, Kathi Swan and Mary Ann (Dick) Calderwood.
An avid golfer, Larry could often be found on the greens under the warm sun, where he shared laughter and forged lasting friendships. His passion for the sport was only paralleled by his enthusiasm for watching Notre Dame games. He greeted each touchdown with the same zeal as a perfectly executed swing. Larry road a Harley, enjoyed boating, fishing, and a good beer and conversation. He also was a proud veteran, serving 4 years in the Navy. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, husband, and brother.
Larry’s joyful spirit and kind heart left an indelible mark on all who knew him. As we bid him farewell, we celebrate a life well-lived and the countless memories he created. His legacy will continue to inspire laughter and camaraderie, echoing his favorite pastimes. Larry will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of his friends and community.
Visitation for Larry will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., at Brown Funeral Home, 521 E Main St. Niles, MI 49120. Family and friends are invited to join afterwards at the Legion in Berrien Springs immediately following.
