Gary Jack Stevenson, 71, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024, in Niles, Michigan.
Gary was born on Dec. 20, 1952, to Charles W. Stevenson and Vivian (McDaniel) Stevenson.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, Charles Stevenson; brother, Jerry Stevenson; sister-in-law, Eileen Devore and brothers-in-law, Ronald Maier, Kurt Cruickshank, and Tom Smith.
Left to cherish the memory of Gary is his loving wife of 51 years, Sheree A. (Maier) Stevenson; sons, Adam Stevenson and Jason (Jessica) Stevenson; grandchildren, Dyllan, Alyssa, Elizabeth, and Ethan; mother, Vivian Stevenson; sister, Glenda (Tom) Dean; sisters-in-law, Judy (Dana) VanValin, Peggy Cruickshank, and Katie Smith, and brother-in-law, Harold Maier.
Gary’s career as a devoted public servant was exemplified by his significant tenure on the Howard Township Fire Department, selflessly protecting and serving for over 25 years, including an honored term as Fire Chief for 5 years.
Gary devoted 45 years at National Standard until his retirement. His legacy as a tireless worker was matched only by his devotion to his adored grandchildren and his steadfast role as a cherished family man. Gary’s presence was a pillar of strength in both his family and the community, where his impactful contributions will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
In every sense of the word, Gary lived a life that exemplified service, love, and dedication, leaving behind a tapestry of memories that will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known him. His radiant spirit will forever be a guiding light in the hearts of his loved ones and the Howard Township community.
Visitation for Gary will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., at Brown Funeral Home, 521 E Main St. Niles, MI 49120.
