Marian Lorraine Shepherd, 80, of Anderson, passed away on March 10, 2024, surrounded by her family after a 15-year battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born on July 13, 1943, in Dowagiac, MI to the late Forrest Gardner and Frances (Rank) Mielke. Marian married the love of her life, Michael Shepherd, and the two were married for 51 years. She worked for CSC Credit Services as an executive secretary, but her true passion was her family. She was a member of St. Mary’s and St. Ambrose Catholic Churches. She loved sewing, knitting, cooking, decorating, and shopping. She made every moment spectacular, every birthday special, and every holiday magical. She had a knack for making everybody she knew feel special.
Marian will be dearly missed by her husband, Michael; children, Kara (Jason) Lindsay, Kristin (Tony) Cruz, Mika Shepherd, and James “Andy” Shepherd; grandchildren, Mindy (David) Burch, Gabrielle Grummer, Jacob Grummer, Joey Best, Jaycie Best, Drew Best, Wyatt Shepherd, and Mia Shepherd; great-granddaughter, Sophia; brothers and sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; father and mother-in-law, Charles and Dorothy Shepherd; sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Tom Ledwell; brothers, Marlin Gardner and Terry Mielke; and brother-in-law Ross Hargrave.

The funeral mass will be on Friday, April 12, 2024, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1115 Pearl St., Anderson, IN 46016. Memorial contributions in Marian’s memory may be gifted to the Alzheimer’s Association. Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home have been entrusted with Marian’s services.
