CASSOPOLIS — The Cassopolis Village Council met for a brief monthly meeting on Monday, March 11th.
During the approval of invoices, Trustee Pedersen questioned the cost of the replacement of a tailgate of a Gator utility vehicle. According to Dept. of Public Works Superintendent and Street Administrator Ben Anderson, the repair amount of $2,200 was due to both the replacement of the tailgate and the drivetrain, both damaged during a collision. All approved invoices for the month totaled $375,925.
A 2024 cannabis event was unanimously approved. The second event hosted by High Indotainment will take place August 24 and will feature live music, art, food, crafts, and cannabis vendors.
During public comment, concerns were raised regarding the state of the property at 116 South O’Keefe Street, including gathering trash, mice, a tent on the premises, and traffic going to and from the property. Though the village council could not comment on details regarding the status of the property, they did indicate that village code enforcement was aware of the situation and that there were actions “in process”.
The next Cassopolis Area Utilities Authority Meeting will take place at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, May 18th at the Village Hall. The next Council Workshop Meeting is on May 25th at 6 p.m. at the Village Hall.
