DOWAGIAC — An event that allowed guests to create new prom memories as adults was met with much fanfare.
Dowagiac Connected recently hosted its second annual Second Hand Second Chance Adult Prom at the Dowagiac Elks Lodge, 300 Riverside Dr., Dowagiac.
The event for ages 21-and-up featured dancing, music by True Entertainment, food, cupcakes from Baker’s Rhapsody, a cash bar and a photo booth by Blueprint Photography.
According to organizer Rebecca Steenbeke, the event was a hit with guests and sold out for the second year in a row. The event raised almost $5,000 for Dowagiac Connected’s annual fireworks show.
“Lots of fun was had by all,” Steenebeke said. “There was lots of dancing, laughing and posing for lots of photos.”
Dowagiac Connected has been instrumental in several community-driven initiatives, including the revival of the annual fireworks show in Dowagiac and the successful construction of the new pavilion at Russom Field. The organization hosts a variety of family-oriented events, such as its annual daddy-daughter dance and adult prom, fostering a sense of togetherness and celebration within the community.
