Southwestern Michigan places six at Harper Open

PALATINE, Ill. — For the first time since winning the Michigan Community College Athletic Association Duals in mid-December, the Southwestern Michigan College wrestling team was back on the mat Saturday.
The Roadrunners took 14 wrestlers to Palatine, Illinois to compete in the Harper Open, of which, six of them places.
Dowagiac’s Jordan Simpson led the way with a runner-up finish at 125 pounds. Shane Edwards (Battle Creek/Pennfield) places fourth at 285, Nanthan Andrina (Edwardsbusrg) placed fifth at 184, Colby Klinger (Mattawan) and Hector Garcia (South Bend/Riley) were sixth at 141 and 174, respectively, and Caeleb Ishmael (Coloma) was eighth.
Southwestern Michigan will now attempt to defend its MCCAA championship as it competes in the individual tournament in Portage Huron Saturday.
