Annual Hunter Ice Festival kicks off in downtown Niles

NILES — The 20th annual Hunter Ice Festival has arrived in downtown Niles.
The annual festival, which sees dozens of expertly carved ice sculptures placed around downtown in addition to other activities, started yesterday and continues until Sunday, Jan. 14 in Niles’ downtown area.
The event is free and open to the public. Below is a tentative schedule of Saturday and Sunday events for the Hunter Ice Festival:
Saturday, Jan. 13
9 a.m. – Life Plan Frigid 5K Start Time
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Warming center at New Journey United Methodist Church, 302 Cedar St. Free beverages and crafts for kids
10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Traditional photo booth and 360 photo booth at On Base Productions, 227 E. Main St.
11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sip and Shop Winter Market at FOE Niles, 34 Sycamore St.
11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. – Pigs by Bigs BBQ at FOE Niles, 34 Sycamore St.
Noon to 7:30 p.m. – Hunter Ice Cream Booth, south side of Main Street 100 block
2 to 3:30 p.m. – Baby Cakes Cupcake Contest by Lifeplan at Gather event space, 105 E. Main St.
3 to 5 p.m. – Live mannequins at Oh My LLC, 307 E. Main St.
3:30 to 5 p.m. – Cocoa and Coronation with Elsa and Anna at the Grand LV, 104 N. 3rd. St.
4 p.m. – Carve-off at the Riverfront Park Amphitheater
All Day – Interactive Ice Park on Main between Bridge and Front Street; Ice Toboggan Hill at Riverfront Park
Sunday, Jan. 14
9 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Jim’s Smokin’ Cafe Brunch Buffet, 220 E. Main St.
10 a.m. to 6 p.m. – Traditional photo booth and 360 photo booth at On Base Productions, 227 E. Main St.
11 a.m. to 4 p.m. – Hunter Ice Cream Booth, south side of Main Street 100 block
Noon to 5 p.m. – Mimosa flight specials at Niles Brewing Company, 206 E. Main St.
All Day – Interactive Ice Park on Main between Bridge and Front Street; Ice Toboggan Hill at Riverfront Park
All Weekend
Hunter Ice Festival $10 Crafts at Bee Crafty LLC, 101 E Main St.
Evolve, 109 N. 3rd St., will have a 50 percent-off sale of select Himalayan salt lamps, candle holders and cooking blocks and their artisan supply sale upstairs.
Salon 414, 204 E. Main St., will be open for folks to check out the new space. They’ll also have specials and Hot Cocoa!
The Vagabond Girls Boutique & Artisan Collective store closing sale. Clothing, gifts, fixtures, clothing racks, mannequins, furniture.
