DEFIANCE, Ohio —The Dowagiac wrestling team is currently 22nd and Niles 32nd at the Defiance Tri-State Border War.
Napoleon continues to lead the field of more than 50 teams with 235 points. Yale is second with 185.5 points and Tinora third with 155.5 points.
The Chieftains have 69 points and the Vikings 50 points.
Dowagiac’s Cal Chapman has advanced to the consolation finals at 285 pounds with three consecutive wins Friday morning.
Chapman won 10-0 over Isaac Meyer, of Archbold, pinned Vincent Parke, of Columbia City, and edged Franklin’s Jake Pekar 3-2 in the consolation semifinals.
Niles’ Julian Means-Flewellen will wrestle for fifth place at 190 pounds as he has gone 2-1 so far on Friday.
Means-Flewellen defeated Columbus Grove’s Gavin Schroeder 6-3, but was pinned by Indian Lake’s Owen Pummel in the consolation semifinals in 2:54. He will wrestle Ryan Schoff, of Homestead, in the fifth-place match.
