EDWARDSBURG — Senior Drew Glaser, who helped lead the Edwardsburg volleyball team to back-to-back Wolverine Conference co-championships, as well as, Division 2 district and regional titles last fall, will continue her academic and athletic career at Valparaiso University.
Glaser, who earned All-Wolverine Conference and Division 2 All-District, Region- and first-team All-State honors, signed her Division 1 national letter of intent to play at Valpo in November.
Glaser, a second-team pick in 2022, finished the year with 508 kills, 174 digs, 52 blocks and 33 aces. She also surpassed 1,000 kills for her career (1,044) and set a Michigan High School Athletic Association record with 29 kills in a single match.
While Glaser got plenty of offers, Valparaiso moved to the top of the list quickly.
“A lot of schools reached out to me, Valpo being one of the first,” she said. “Once I got the offer from Valpo, which was always the frontrunner, I dwindled down my options to about four that I went and visited. Still, Valpo always stood out the more schools I saw making it clear where I wanted to go.”
There were several reasons why Glaser ended up picking Valparaiso.
“I chose Valpo because of the culture of the team and the student-athlete adaptability,” she said. “The culture is always positive and they have the nicest and most supportive people on their team. I also wanted to be a nurse, which is a hard degree to pursue while playing a sport, but Valpo makes it more convenient than other schools, especially being Division 1. They have systems in place to make it easier on the student to be a student-athlete, no just an athlete-athlete.”
Drew, who is the daughter of Jeff and Mary Glaser, will be joined at Valparaiso University by Brandywine’s Kadence Brumitt, who is a teammate of Drew at the Krush Volleyball Club.
