NILES — For the third straight year, Niles High School senior Sawyer Lundberg and his classmates are hoping to make the holiday season better for others.
Sawyer Lundberg, a Niles High School senior and student at the Berrien Math and Science Center at Andrews University, recently delivered boxes of warm and cozy socks to the Central County Senior Center in Berrien Springs, the Buchanan Senior Center and the Niles Senior Center.
Lundberg and his fellow classmates at the Berrien Math and Science Center collected and donated nearly 200 socks for senior citizens throughout Berrien County.
“This year, we collected so many socks that we were able to deliver dozens of socks to the Berrien Springs, Niles and Buchanan senior centers,” he said. “I hope our warm socks will warm hearts and let the senior citizens of Berrien County know we care about them.”
For the Berrien County Math and Science Center students, this was not the first time the students from more than seven high schools banded together to make an impact in Berrien County. Lundberg said he and his fellow classmates volunteered for the Berrien Conservation District and helped distribute nearly 500 trees for planting across Berrien County in Niles, Buchanan, Berrien Springs, Edwardsburg and Watervliet.
