HOWARD TOWNSHIP — A Niles man was injured in a single-vehicle crash in Howard Township Thursday morning, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that at approximately 12:08 a.m. Thursday, his office was called to investigate a personal injury crash near the intersection of Barron Lake Road and White Street in Howard Township.
Investigation shows that 30-year-old Niles resident Casey Schramm was traveling northbound on Barron Lake Road when he left the roadway and struck a Telephone Pole. Schramm then continued off the roadway, struck a tree causing his vehicle to come to a rest alongside the roadway. Schramm was transported to Corewell Hospital in Niles for minor injuries sustained in the crash.
Seatbelts were worn and alcohol does appear to be a factor in the crash. Assisting in this crash was SMCAS Ambulance and Howard Township Fire Department.
