DOWAGIAC — A 21-point first quarter allowed host Dowagiac to roll to an easy 81-28 non-conference boys basketball victory over River Valley Monday night.
The Chieftains scored 47 first-half points as every play on the roster scored at least two points.
The win improved Dowagiac to 2-1 on the year heading into Thursday night’s Lakeland Conference contest against defending league champion Benton Harbor.
While the Chieftains’ offense was in high gear, which included hitting 11 3-pointers, Dowagiac also played well in the contest, holding the Mustangs to 12 points in the second half.
Gianni Villalobos led Dowagiac with a game-high 14 points, while Jamal Williams added 11 points and Isaiah Fitchett 10 points. Brayden Irvin-Diaz finished with seven points.
