Southwestern Michigan scores 100 points for third straight game

DEARBORN — For the third straight contest, the Southwestern Michigan women’s basketball team eclipsed the 100-point mark as it defeated host Henry Ford College 100-49 Tuesday night.
The undefeated Roadrunners (8-0) scored 22 or more points in all four quarters despite being short-handed.
Southwestern Michigan raced out to a 26-11 lead after one quarter and never looked back.
The Roadrunners led 49-28 at halftime. Southwestern Michigan outscored the Hawks 51-21 in the second half.
Niles sophomore Amara Palmer scored a career-high 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead Southwestern Michigan, which also got 19 points and nine rebounds from Cameron Thomas (Hazel Crest, Illinois), 14 points and five rebounds from Nalani Williams (St. Louis, Missouri) and 13 points and 14 rebounds from Tori Eldridge (Goshen, Indiana).
Katie Baumgartner (Mishawaka) scored nine points off the bench and grabbed 12 rebounds.
The Roadrunner head north to face Muskegon Community College in Michigan Community College Athletic Association non-divisional contest Saturday afternoon.
