CASSOPOLIS — A former Niles resident who stole catalytic converters off seven trucks in Howard Township was sentenced to probation Friday in Cass County Circuit Court.
Caleb Jeremiah Hardcastle, 39, now of South Haven, pleaded guilty to larceny $1,000 to $20,000 and was sentenced to two years probation, credit for three days served and $2,268 in fines and costs.
He also had his probation revoked and given credit for four days served from a probation violation from a 2021 conviction.
The current incident occurred Dec. 3, 2021 at a location on Yankee Street in Howard Township.
Defense attorney Robert Kardatzke noted that while Hardcastle didn’t spend much time in jail for this incident, he spent seven months in jail in Elkhart and Marshall Counties in Indiana after this offense.
