DOWAGIAC — A new season, but the same old domination.
The Southwestern Michigan College sports teams continue to rack up the Michigan Community College Athletic Association Western Conference Player of the Week honors.
Less than a month into the 2023-24 season, the Roadrunners earned their second women’s basketball Player of the Week honors and its third overall.
Sophomore Cameron Thomas, of Hazel Crest, Illinois, was named the POY last week as she helped Southwestern Michigan remain undefeated with a pair of big wins.
Thomas had a combined 49 points, 16 rebounds and five steals in those victories while shooting 56-percent from the field.
The Roadrunners’ RJ Davis Jr., a freshman from Glenview, Illinois, was the Western Conference Player of the Week the previous week for men’s basketball, while SMC’s Shane Edwards was named Wrestler of the Week the same week as Davis.
