Harold Marshall Leffler was born March 8, 1927, to Emil and Elsie Leffler in Hinsdale, Illinois. He was named after Harold Marshall Sylvester Richards Sr. otherwise known as H.M.S. Richards Sr., a well know Seventh-day Adventist evangelist, who was a fellow classmate of Emil’s at Washington Missionary College.

Harold and his younger brother Richard, grew up in Battle Creek, Michigan. Later the family moved to Albion, Michigan. Harold married Beverly Jane Wheeker, on a balmy December 22, 1957 in Pontiac, Michigan. Harold is preceded in death by his parents, brother and wife. In 1961, Harold and Beverly moved to Niles, Michigan where they raised their 3 sons. Harold was involved in education with the Niles school system.

Harold is survived by two sisters-in-law, Lois and Donna, one brother-in-law, Willard and by 3 sons: Doug (Cyndi) of Eureka, Montana; David (Yolonda) of Oroville, Washington; and Dr. Dale (Mary) of St. Joseph, Michigan. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, Matthew (Rachel), Lauralea, Aaron, Christian, Seth, Grace, Josh, Brendan, Caleb, three great-grandchildren, Emily, Elyssa, and Luke and numerous nieces and nephews.
