Thank you for the informative article about the continued good work Ron Butts is doing as animal control director of our local animal shelter.

Our community is fortunate that Mr. Butts was hired, as he has made many positive changes to help animals under his care.

In addition to the information mentioned in the July 21-22 issue of the Dowagiac Daily News, he initiated participation of our shelter in the annual “Empty the Shelters” project. It is heartening to see that very few animals need to be euthanized.

Hopefully, your article will alert people who want to adopt an animal to consider visiting the shelter before deciding to purchase an animal.
