JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP — An Indiana man was injured in a single vehicle crash just after midnight Thursday, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Department.

Officers were dispatched to the intersection of M-60 and Hospital Street in Jefferson Township at 12:07 a.m. Thursday. There, they learned that John Silva, 46, was traveling west on Hospital Street when he failed to stop at a stop sign.

Silva’s vehicle left the roadway and collided with a tree.

Silva was transported to Lakeland Hospital in Niles for treatment.

He was wearing his seat belt, and alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash.

Pride Care Ambulance, Central Cass Fire Department and the Michigan State Police assisted at the scene.
