NILES — Registration continues for the virtual 14th annual Cat Tracks 5K Run and Walk hosted by Brandywine Community Schools Foundation and the YMCA of Greater Michiana.

The race, which has been switched to a virtual format, will be Saturday, Aug. 29 through Sunday, Sept. 6.

Race officials decided to go virtual due to the recommendations of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and the State of Michigan. Being a virtual race, participants may run the distance anywhere.

Because a portion of the original Cat Tracks course is private property, the original Cat Tracks 5K course will not be available for the virtual race between Aug. 29 and Septe. 6. Participants are encouraged to run or walk their 5K in their neighborhood, a nearby park or the track at Brandywine’s High School, for example.

Cost is $20 per person for both the 5K run and 5K walk. The entry fee increases to $25 after Aug. 15.

Once a runner has completed the race, they must send their time to the Run Signup website, runsignup/com/RaceMI/Nles/CatTracks5K. Complete information on how to do that are available on the website.

Proceeds from the race are split between foundation projects and the Brandywine Summer My Way day camp.
