MILTON TOWNSHIP — Sheriff Richard Behnke reported that his deputies responded to a personal injury traffic crash on at 2:17 p.m. Saturday on Bertrand Street and Ironwood Road in Milton Township.

A vehicle driven by Donald Mansell, 55, of Elkhart, was eastbound on Bertrand Street and disregarded a stop sign at the intersection of Bertrand Street and Ironwood Road. The second driver Kimberly Jann, 57, of Niles, was proceeding through the intersection after stopping. Mansell did not see the stop sign and struck Jann on the side of her vehicle.

Jann was transported by EMS to South Bend Memorial Hospital for her injuries sustained in the crash.

According to the sheriff’s office, seat belts were worn, and alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor. Airbags did deploy when the crash occurred.

This crash remains under investigation.

Deputies were assisted by Berrien County Sheriff’s Office, Niles Township Fire and SMCAS EMS.
