Berrien County reports additional COVID-19 death

SOUTHWEST MICHIGAN – The death toll of COVID-19 continues to rise in southwest Michigan.

Tuesday, Berrien County reported an additional COVID-19 death, bringing its total death count to 15. Monday, the county reported 14 deaths.

As of 3 p.m. Tuesday, the Berrien County Health Department reported 232 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with an additional 166 presumed positive cases and 163 recoveries.

Nearby Cass County reported 27 cases, two deaths and three recoveries as of Tuesday. Meanwhile, Van Buren County reported 43 cases, two deaths and eight recoveries.

Statewide, Michigan has seen 39,262 cases and 3,567 deaths. According to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, 8,342 COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered.

Across state lines, nearby St. Joseph County, Indiana reported 602 COVID-19 cases and 16 deaths Tuesday. Elkhart County reported 269 cases and seven deaths.
