DOWAGIAC — With the cancellation of the entire spring sports season, Dowagiac girls soccer coach Chad Davis, his players and their parents decided to host a Senior Night recently.

The five seniors on the Chieftain squad will be featured one at a time each Wednesday.

Davis provided sashes, cupcakes and a flower for the moms, while still practicing social distancing. Photos of each player were submitted to the Dowagiac Daily News for publication.

“My five seniors are my heroes,” Davis said. “Not only are these women strong-minded, intelligent and brave, they’re also what we look for in a mentor student-athlete. Sometimes a hero is asked to sacrifice things for the greater good of people’s health; that’s exactly what these girls have done. So, thank you, seniors.”

DAANA MIRELES

Hobbies: Drawing, cooking, baking and cleaning.

My favorite soccer memory: My favorite soccer memories are on game days, usually when we all gather before the game, warming up with music and goofing around.

Future plans: I plan to attend Western Michigan University to study international marketing.

Awards/Accomplishments: High honors and National Honor Society.

Advice to underclassmen: My advice to underclassmen is to always be yourself. Don’t be afraid to go out there and show what you got. And work hard!

How have you been making the best of being quarantined? I’ve tried to entertain myself usually by helping around the house with new decorations or remodeling that is being done. Also, I try and go do drills or take a walk outside.

Activities: Playing soccer, walking my dog or some outside game with my siblings.
